i’ve always had a beef with how action scenes are cut and choreographed in hollywood vs. action scenese cut in hong kong. david bordwell has an excellent breakdown of what the gripes are.

bill murray is the best! not only is he amazing at being a whole myriad of characters, bill murray is great at being bill murray. apparently he doesn’t do too many interviews, which makes this interview with gq an even more awesome read.

here’s an interesting article from time magazine about the state of the visual effects industry today. it’s a little distressing to read, especially since i’ve been in this industry for almost 15 years now, but i love my job. hopefully we’ll be able to supply robots and explosions for many more years to come.
