if you ever went to film school, you know the names david bordwell and kristen thompson. their film theory and history books are required reading, which is good, because they’re frigging brilliant. now, thanks to the internets and its tubes, you can read david bordwell’s blog here. it’s great stuff.

tuvan throat singers, chirgilchin, performed at herbst theater tonight with special guest laurie anderson. it was surprisingly underattended, but on the plus side, that helped to make it a lovely intimate show. one of my obsessions is to see laurie anderson whenever she comes around, and as for chirgilchin, i’ll gladly go see them again [...]

Holding hands… sort-of.Originally uploaded by disbister. michael and i went to visit the twins and cook a nice little dinner for the new parents, dave and tracy. it’s a little overwhelming how adorable ben and owen are – even if they’re all wrinkled and alien-looking.

not only does he have a tivo, but he bought some dvd’s of buffy the vampire slayer. we were watching the show when one of the characters mentions stevenson dorm… in the next episode, they talk about a party being held at porter dorm. michael thought i was crazy when i said i saw a [...]

michael got a tivo and now i’m completely obsessed about two shows – lost and the office…. it’s a little embarrassing. on fresh air, terry gross interviews greg daniels and mindy kaling, writers for the office.
