amazons eat pizza.
candy von dewd and the girls from latexploitia sat around a go-go table devouring a coldish vegetarian pizza. the table was softly lit from the bottom so that the pizza box looked as if it was being presented as an item on the price is right. "i'll say... $10.99, bob."
"are you a good amazon or an evil amazon?" asked one of the girls sitting across from me.
"neither," i replied, picking at the olives gone awol in the pizza box. "i'm the cinematographer." i was surprised that she would think that i was an amazon - if that were the case, i'd be the tiniest, scrawniest amazon that any intergalactic space traveller has ever seen. "ummm... are you a good amazon or evil amazon?" i asked her, curious to know what she chose.
"good," she responded.
"excellent!"
most of the girls i saw that evening wanted to be evil amazons - after all, being an evil amazon in latex just sounds so much more promising. jacques had been interviewing several of the amazons-in-waiting and then would send them my way so that i could get a few shots of them with the video camera. doms, fetish models and firedancers posed for me as i asked them to give me their sexiest amazon pose and their meanest amazon pose. i got a kick out of ordering the dominatrixes (dominatrices?) around. one woman got down on all fours and purred... or growled at me as i framed her in the camera. i can't remember if it she was trying for sexy or mean, but once the costume designer slips her into her latex outfit, i don't think it'll really matter.
i'm really looking forward to working with the amazons. now that i'm mostly working on visual effects post production, i haven't had a chance to work on location for any films in awhile and i kind of miss that. i get the feeling that this is probably going to be one of the wackier crews that i'll work with. the last production i was in was an independent film described as 'the touching coming-of-age story about a young musician growing up in santa cruz.' as you can probably tell from that tagline, it didn't really go anywhere. admittedly, the crew was a blast, and the production was a lot of fun to work for. the director was a recent graduate from usc who had dragged an entire crew up from los angeles and rented a huge house in the woods for everyone to stay in. since i already lived in santa cruz i would go meet them at the house where we mostly just got really wasted and played with a lot of expensive equipment, which has its own merits to it. i have to admit that i had a lot of fun working on that film, but i suspect that this production will prove to be a lot more entertaining. after all, with amazons, astronauts and interdimensional time travel - how can it possibly go wrong?
