dear lord, this could keep me entertained for hours. i'm surprised i didn't find out about this earlier. imdb's random movie quote generator.

this is going to sound weird, but i've always had this theory about the 'alpha female' - the woman who wants to be top dog in the crowd, despite the fact that nobody's competing. the new book, woman's inhumanity to woman, seems to validate something that's irritated me for a long time.

it's like most everything virtual, it's not quite as satisfying as the real thing, but virtual legos are definitely a pretty funny concept. (via metafilter)

ever since my mom had an aneurysm, i've been pretty freaked out about headaches. at the risk of sounding like a freaked out hypochondriac, i've been suffering this irritating, low-level headache every day for the past week. if i'm to believe this website, i shouldn't worry. on the other hand... if you don't hear from me for awhile, my brain may have popped.

flo-control is the coolest cat door. ever. (link du steve)

this is, by far, one of the funniest news stories i've read in awhile. guys smoke crack, steal a krispy kreme truck, and leave a fifteen mile trail of donuts for the cops to follow. now that's comedy.

in theory, if you listened to the squid indie channel at somafm, you'd be able to catch a shimmer kids song sooner or later. unfortunately, it seems as though the latest damage by the dmca will limit where you can listen to great independent music by talented kids everywhere. rusty hodge at somafm is interviewed by salon regarding the state of independent webcasters today.

on the other hand, spam feels so weird on the ears. it's kind of soft and squishy. here's some high quality spamradio for your auditory inputs. (this link was reheated by chris)

if all goes well, i'll be driving a lime green honda insight sooner or later. hopefully sooner. when that happens, you better step aside, 'cause then i'm going drag racing. (another fine steve link)

media update: i just finished reading david sedaris' me talk pretty one day, jonathan lethem's girl in landscape, and got a chance to catch blue sky's ice age. all pretty entertaining overall, even if they were just a bit uneven. i have to admit that both the sedaris book and ice age made me hyperventilate in laughter at least once. not a bad thing, really.

speaking of media, congratulations to all my wonderful friends at pacific data images/dreamworks for being the first ever to win the academy award for best animated feature!! i am so incredibly proud of all of you!

although this year's oscars were more entertaining than previous years, i found salon's write-up of the ceremony to be pretty damn funny. secretly, i'm still waiting for the day when steve martin hosts again.

03.24.02

ok... the damage seems to be assessed, and if anyone happens to have sent me an email over the past week, please be so kind as to re-send it to me. it probably got lost in the ether of the land of lost packets. i apologize for the hassle, but i point the blame at dirty little hackers everywhere. (not the wacky, funny, hackers, mind you, just the dirty little ones)

you know you want to read about all the simpsons math references, right? right. (link via pete)

since recovering from the flu, i've been keeping sober and clean from inebriants and caffeine. it might amuse you to hear that since this boycott, i've found most of my chores to be very, very boring. i guess this might alse be why i've been particularly amused by the ibong. yet another reason why i find macs entertaining.

no... i'm not obsessed... just entertained once again. i don't quite understand why this kiwi doesn't just get a refrigerator, but cooling your beer with a jet engine seems just as good a way as any, i suppose.

03.21.02

wow. the mecha-orga symbiosis of filmfatale industries has been hit particularly hard these past couple of days as i've battled with the flu while our servers were unceremoniously hacked. fortunately, i seem to be recovering ok and filmfatale has found a new home. unfortunately, it may take a day or two for us to get our respective feet on the ground. stand by as we find the switches that shut off the klaxons.

what does everyone have against fungus? i like fungus! it sure sounds better than quorn (another fine link brought to you be mr. steve).

everyone's probably heard about the marvelous fightin' whites, now you can buy the shirts!

i've upgraded my powerbook to mac os x and nothing has blown up yet. that's success in my book.

in addition to the mac os x upgrade, i've also switched my browser to mozilla. nice. simple. fast. so far i've got nothing but rosey things to say about it. the thing that makes me happiest? it's not microsoft.

sure, kill your television, but kill yourself over television? now that's not right.

steve tells me that they're obsessed with yatta! at his work. they've found a site that gives you step by step instructions on the dance, where to buy the dvd and where to buy your very own fig leaf underwear!

since steve's co-workers are looking for all the yatta! links, that leaves him free to read the latest edition of entertainment geekly. (get it? leaves? hah!)

i knew it all along. here's hard evidence proving why george bush is president. (link via milton)

i love roller coasters. someday i will need to tell you about the time i took a tour of a roller coaster factory. i wish i had a backyard so i could build a roller coaster of my own. (link via star)

groggy. coughing. aches. i am ill. kill me now, please.

greenl leaves me speechless. fig leaves? engrish? yatta!? (i blame dj i for this link. you should, too)

if i ever had $400 to spend on a rubber band machine gun, i'd spend it on this one.

my cow-orker is getting ready for his upcoming iron man competition. i, however, do not plan to be intimidated by his physical prowess. i will conquer all in cheeseracing and extreme ironing! (link via max)

what's a tv show without merchandise?? i think i need to get myself an iron chef apron. (link via the summer)

i prefer the term 'netstumbling' to 'war driving.' it sounds less combative that way. salon delves into the current state and future plans to make wireless more available to the people.

it was such a gorgeous weekend that the spaceloungers decided to have a barbeque. when i found out about cheeseracing, it was all over.

for the life of me, i couldn't remember the name of the toy that had the arrow that spins around in a circle and makes the sound of the animal that's being pointed out. you know, audio russian roulette for kids. not only do i now know what a cow says, i know how the cow says it. (it's a see-n-say, by the way)
