jason forwarded me this ebay auction for one slightly used wedding dress. there's many levels of funny in this; i almost hyperventilated from laughing too much.

i just caught this screening of seven samurai over at the rafael theater this evening. in addition to seeing george lucas make a somewhat rare public appearance, it was also a treat to see the full 3 1/2 hour version of the film. what a great movie.

the oqo made its prime time television premiere on tonight's episode of 24. it's used by the evil supervillain in the last ten minutes of the show; there's a couple good shots of it doing its superpowered computer thing and i'm told it might be in more episodes next season.

i got tickets to see the pixies at the greek. i never saw them the first time around, ten years ago. josh forwarded an article where frank black talks about the breakup. (pdf)

ok, i have to agree with isbister that this is definitely the best domain name ever.

wiese forwarded this link to building your own computer chassis to be pretty much anything. i want mine to be a robot.

last year, when i was in japan, there were posters everywhere for studio ghibli's new movie by hayao miyazaki. i'm excited that there's now noise being made about it here in the states.

in my continued obsession with michel gondry, here is an interview with the animator for his yarn video and a little discussion about one of my favorite stop motion techniques, pixelation.

and on the subject of special effects, here's a funny site that reviews movies based on their physics.

before i forget... happy 4/20, everyone.

i was able to catch get up! at the san francisco international film festival over the weekend. it was frikkin' hilarious. how could you go wrong with the yakuza ~and~ james brown?? can't be done.

i also got to see kill bill 2 over the weekend. i once again begrudgingly allowed tarantino to completely entertain and amaze me. the weird thing is that when i see him being interviewed, he comes off as a complete moron, but then i see his movies and i always really enjoy them. i think he is a classic case of idiot savant.

when i drove into work this morning, i found this rocket in our courtyard. it turns out that canadian arrow was giving a presentation about launching their rocket in private airspace for the xprize. i love the fact that:

a) there are contests determined to take regular people out into space

and

b) contestants make a special effort to present their rockets at my work! (excuse me, sir? could i... ummm... see your rocket?)

i got fitted for my custom earplugs today from lisa tannenbaum of musician's hearing services. it was a little bit pricey, but will be totally worth it in the long run. also, she came and fitted a bunch of us at our office which was great.

oi. we finally finished up with harry potter and now my schedule is thankfully loosening up. here's the latest trailer. it comes out june 4th, you should check it out and then wait an unbearably long time at the end (after the caterers and the assistant to the personal assistant of the person who did the thing) to see my name in all its hopefully correctly spelled glory.

now that i have a break, i've been planning for the road trip and i can't wait. every time i leave for lunch, i have to fight the urge to just keep driving and not come back for two months. must... exercise... patience. so, instead of driving away, i've been spending a lot of time on roadsideamerica.com

i'm also planning on some excellent manifold meals. mmmm... nothing like some homecooked car food.

one of the best threads ever: album covers drawn from memory in ms paint. (link via isbister)

i've never read google's job opportunities page before. the funniest part is that one of their incentives to get people to work for them is to be involved in such projects as helping people spell britney spears properly.
