i admit the updates were terrible. i did absolutely no updating on the road, but there was so much more to do out there in that "world" thing than sit at the computer. for example, i had to... sit at the steering wheel! i could have made everything easier if i used some cool blogging software, but since this here theremin chronicles is some sort of home brewed franken-blog, you get what you get. no refunds!

anyway, all is well! 6 1/2 weeks of travelling and i am now back at the original starting point. it was pretty friggin' amazing and i'm glad that i did it. there's definitely a lot of new material to write about. ideally, i'd like to do a city by city breakdown of the travels, so hopefully i'll have time to do that and be able to post it on filmfatale in the near (very near) future.

meanwhile, check out michel gondry's latest. you probably know about it already, but i've been gone and absent from media. i heart michel gondry.

i just got a chance to catch beatboxer kid beyond tonight. i had never seen him before and i have to say that now i'm a convert. he's frikkin' amazing; definitely check him out if he's ever performing near you.

last night i saw make a wish at frameline's lesbian & gay film festival. cheesy lesbian slasher movies were a niche i didn't realize was needed, but lo and behold, there it was in all its estrogen filled over-the-top glory. i wish there were more people in the theater, though, because we had a funny audience, which is always a great addition to the horror movie experience.

yup, steve's right, i wish i had thought of this first. selling my co-worker's trash on ebay could be a super lucrative business!

pete, david and i saw todd barry at the 826nyc benefit show. todd said he expected the obscure phrase jewforever to show up on everyone's blogs by the next day, but it turns out that pete is the only one that has shown up so far on google. i figured what the hell, might as well post it too and see what happens.

the benefit show last night for 826nyc was awesome. personally, i think it was the best they might be giants show i've ever had the opportunity to see (and i've seen a healthy amount of tmbg shows, i tells ya.) i'm happy to report that the new york branch will be a superhero supply store!

hi from manhattan!!

sorry for the huge lapse in updates, but i was having 'issues' with the server. it's all resolved now, so life is swell.

i've been here in new york for a few days now and am loving it. i'm spending a bunch of time with friends and getting to know the area around the place i'm staying. before this, i was in philadelphia, where i checked out the mutter museum. it's repulsive and fascinating at the same time. there's much too much for me to even begin to describe, except to say that it's a museum focused on 19th century medicine. body parts in jars, bodies in glass cases, skulls, wax representations of disease and the liver of the world's first documented conjoined twins. oh yeah... and there's the dwarf prostitute.

i stayed at the chamounix hostel in philadelphia and it was probably the best hostel i've had an opportunity to stay in during the trip so far. it was a mansion in the 1800's and is even decorated with period furniture (including a nice, yet not used giant harp in the front room).

harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban comes out tomorrow and the word is out that it's a pretty decent flick. this was my first film as the lead visual effects editor, so i'm excited to see the credit in all its glory.

the day gets exponentially more exciting because after the movie, i'm going to catch they might be giants play a benefit show with david cross and sarah vowell! they're raising money to open up a new branch of david eggars' san francisco writing tutorial center, 826 valencia. the new york location will be called 826nyc. i'm sure it'll be a mighty good show because it's a mighty fine cause.

in other news, i totally want to buy this galaxie 500 dvd set. i'm a little mystified why they chose a jonathan richman song as the title for the set, though. (forwarded from josh)
