june 06.23.05 there's not much updating going on right now since i'm not really checking links while i'm here in beijing, but i am updating my flickr set. check out my photos from beijing every few days and enjoy the show! 06.17.05 ok, i'm about to board the plane to beijing so i can study martial arts for a couple weeks. i'm imagining old kung fu movies where they'll have me carrying buckets of water up steep, rocky hills to battle a bearded, laughing old chinese guy. hilarity ensues. i'll see you all when i get back! (unless the big boss defeats me, of course) 06.16.05 beijing is approaching me at light speed. i can barely keep track of myself. in the mad panic preparation for the trip, i got a little obsessive about batteries. here's a cool little do and don't chart for charging, discharging and disposing of our electrical storage friends. (found by the guys over at lifehack.) yes, i'm a sucker for spelling bees. especially sweet spelling bees. (link via sureena) 06.11.05 why??? here's why: god hates shrimp. i've been passing some time by reading comics. one i just stumbled upon is toothpaste for dinner. the other that i really like is exploding dog. i think i'm into them because they show me that even the simplest drawing styles can convey so much when there's the right words to go with them. public service announcement: here's a good link to refer to when you want to figure out how to recycle something. 06.06.05 build your own steve jobs. the next question is: which processor would you put in him? as if the future of the smart car wasn't grim enough in the states, daimler-chrysler has slashed 40% of it's smart car division. ouch. mcsweeney's zorks out and writes up a christmas day celebration with the girlfriend's parents as told in the form of an old infocom game. (link via birthday steve) the nasa crash footage site gives me the happy. (link via michael) 06.04.05 mmmm... miyazaki. pacific film archive in berkeley is having a studio ghibli celebration during the month of june. who can possibly resist? 06.02.05 how much am i a sucker for professor television and his photo theremin?? a big sucker, that's how much. (link via chris, michael & alex) i'll be one of the first to tell you - editors never get recognized (unless you happen to be walter murch). here's a fresh air interview with thelma schoonmaker, a veteran editor in hollywood... and a chick!
