not necessarily the best written article, but technology review has a pretty decent overview of digital technology in hollywood.

the non-conforming, left-wing, hippie outcasts that i graduated with all sadly shake their heads whenever uc santa cruz makes one of the top three party schools in the nation. i feel like a crotchety old man when i say 'times have changed.' anyway, i think it's because of this that i secretly hope princeton review stops ranking party schools.

far more impressive than digital filmmaking is digital vision. wired's article about the technological advances in creating sight for the blind is fascinating. dobelle's new digital eye technology looks uncannily like something out of a jeunet-caro film. (link via star)

i can't believe that i forgot to tell you! in all the hub-bub of this reality which i will call "life," i completely spaced and forgot to inform you, the dear reader, that our new cd is out! the shimmer kids underpop association has done it again and this time, we have a label! hidden agenda records proudly presents natural riot, an album of space-age proportions. buy it now! (i'm somewhat startled to report that you can even buy it from tower records.)

you know it, and i know it. zombies are everywhere and they want our precious brains. if you don't buy yourself a zombie alert system soon, you'll be regretting it... and you'll be undead.

if anyone ever asks you what ocd stands for, point them to the lego's run website. i think it will explain it all.

i swear that there's a futurama episode that has something to do with the time travel fund. isn't there an episode where frye discovers he's a millionaire becacuse of some money that he left in the bank back in 2000?

next time i want to do some 'ecologically friendly logging,' i'm going to buy a giant mechanical spider. wouldn't you? (linkle, linkle little star... ouch. did i just say that?)

until now, i've been absolutely convinced that jet li has doomed himself to be the new steven segal of hollywood. i'm glad to read that he's returned home to star in hero with zhang ziyi. lovely.

meanwhile, michelle yeoh continues to kick ass in the most kick ass way she can. in her next film, she's a trapeze artist. she's so awesome, i want to bear her children.
