i'm
going to train hundreds of thousands of robo-roaches to ride on
the backs of my dinosaur
robots. this will be the birth of my robot army!!!
i
will control my robot army from my futuro
headquarters - building of the future. (link via gmtplus9)
of
course, futuro headquarters will be populated with the finest robot
ducks from the 1700's. (via robotwisdom)

i'm
not really a big fan of pokeman, which makes the pikamac
a little bit frightening.
the
great thing about the robo-roach
is that everything is true. how could you not love that picture?
the
dew
death calculator tells me that it would take a little over 130
cans of mountain dew to kill me. (via pop

for
reasons other than the news, things have totally chaotic for me
lately, with the moving and the construction and they hey, hey,
hey. the weird thing, is that when i find that i have a moment to
myself, i sense a brief moment of panic. fortunately, it seems to
pass...
dishwasher
pete is one of my favorite commentators from this american life.
he's just strange enough to be funny.
you'll
have to admit, thistothat
is a pretty damn useful site.
this

here's
the latest status that i have of friends in new york. i know this
doesn't apply to most of filmfatale's readers, but i feel it's important
to make sure that friends know that everybody is ok.
mo
is fine and well. she is helping folks in the streets who may be
confused due to lack of traffic lights or just the general chaos.
ben
is in north carolina and was safely away from new york.
kenji
has reported in and is fine.
valentine
and claire are ok. valentine watched the second tower collapse from
his office building. claire was working a few blocks away, but was
able to return safe and sound (albeit, covered from head to toe
in soot and ash).
domini
is safe and sound, but doesn't know when she will be able to move
back to canada. eyal is currently in montreal.
steve
and andi have still not been heard from (as far as i know). if anyone
knows of their whereabouts, please drop me a line.
09.12.01
i've
never been in either of the towers at the world trade center. my
only memory of those buildings is when i stood in between the two
skyscrapers and then spun around as fast as i could while looking
directly up. i watched as the two giants swirled above me against
the blue sky. it was a great moment.
09.09.01
i
know, i know. i've been totally lax on the updates - but you gotta
give me some slack. i've been desperately trying to finish building
my new bedroom from scratch because i have to move into it by the
end of the week. you try doing that and see how often you're on
your computer. fortunately, my friends search the web too... here's
a lego
mindstorm robot that solves the rubick's cube! if that's not
cool, then i don't know what is. (link via star)
to
be honest, i find stephen hawking much more cooler than the lego-bot.
i personally believe that hawking is the world's first cyborg scientist,
and now he's warning
the world of our impending doom when the robots take over the world.
my
co-workers and i were dying when we heard this
the other day. note to self: if i'm driving along a country road
and i hit a deer - don't put it in the back seat. bonus points if
i'm not a redneck.

you!
yes you! do me a favor and nominate
the shimmer kids underpop association for the sfweekly music awards
in the rock/indie rock category! the staff at filmfatale will
be forever grateful to you (thanks to robin for the link!)
have
i ever told you how much i am in love with jonathan richman? i was
listening to his music for years and when i finally got a chance
to see him perform live at the kuumbawa in santa cruz back in '87,
there was no turning back. i even sit through farrelly brothers
movies to watch him - because those fifteen minutes that he sings
on screen blows away any horrible thoughts i have about what a bad
movie i'm watching. i was excited to discover that salon
has chosen jonathan richman as their brilliant careers feature of
the month. pardon me, i'm going to go swoon now.
buckaroo
banzai was one of my favorite films in junior high. i watched
it way too much and dreamed that someday i would be as cool as buckaroo.
believe you me, i was shocked to find out that mike had never seen
buckaroo banzai! well... we fixed that.
while
looking for the above link, i stumbled upon techtv's
top 11 (this one goes to 11) cult geek films. i don't know if
i should be more worried about the fact that i've seen all of these,
or the fact that i've rewatched most of them probably within the
past year...

happy
labor day! i'm a proud badge carrying member of iatse
local 16 - have you kissed your union sister today?
i
used to hold an unofficial church of the simpsons on sunday night
at my house every week. at the height of it, there were about 40
people in my living room watching some really funny shit. as it
turns out, the
real churches aren't as offended by the simpsons as i thought.
