as resfest draws closer, oedipus gets more press!

as you can tell, i'm in love with stop motion. another thing that i love is time lapse, which i've been doing a lot of. here's one i did a few weekends ago of chillits, and another one from august of john & lamont's party. it's sort of reminiscent of koyaanisqatsi, but my life isn't in turmoil (and doesn't appear to be out of balance [that i can tell]) also, instead of phillip glass, you get boards of canada and shimmer kids. loreleiqatsi.

the oqo has been slashdotted once again. yes, wired's number 2 vaporware of last year is an actual thing. although, i could have told you that a long time ago, since i appear to be surrounded by them these days (alas, my request to try them out for time lapse projects has gone unheard. -=ahem=-). the launch date is in a couple weeks, so cross your fingers and hope that it does well.

i'm completely blissed out. i finally got to see the pixies! i can remember that one moment, 12 years ago, standing at kzsc, looking at the poster for the doolittle tour, feeling broke and thinking "neh... i'll catch them the next time around." i've been kicking myself ever since. (thanks to dominodigital dave for getting the tickets for all of us - he said that i had to go with them since i'm the one who introduced him to the pixies oh so long ago. music karma payback time!)

now that i've seen my beloved band, i thought i could die a happy woman - but then i went to go see monster road over at the red vic and i realized i can't die yet. i have to belt out some claymation first. must animate before death!

josh forwarded me this quiz to find out which serial killer are you most like? he's manson. try not to piss him off.

no, i'm not dead yet! sorry i haven't updated in awhile, but every now and then that life thing gets in the way. fortunately, i've had myself a good dose of chillits, and life has once again returned to flying altitude.

checkitout - boingboing is excited about oedipus!! if you haven't yet, you should buy your tickets for the resfest shorts #1 series so you can watch it. we're going on thursday, september 30th at the palace of fine arts and i guarantee comedy, sex and vegetables. i'd love it if you came.

my friends, jim and dave (who, by the way, don't know each other) are both obsessed with a particular quote which can be found on all the muni buses in san francisco. dave has decided to make a t-shirt of the quote.

taking advantage of the fact that most san francitizens are getting dusty out on the playa, i went to a dave eggers mcsweeney's reading at the page street public library last night. the humor of the entire evening was topped off by their dramatic reading of jenna and barbara's introductory speech from the republican national convention. now that's comedy.

i also just saw garden state. it's a sweet, funny romantic comedy that i'd recommend to anyone. it's also encouraging to watch natalie portman be a good actress - every day i have to watch her do some terrible, terrible acting for some other movie... and it's not a good thing.
