now, i wouldn't say i'm a religious person by any means, but i have to admit that i find it a little freakish that the actor playing jesus christ in mel gibson's the passion was hit by lightning while on set in rome.

i just saw kid koala present this year's short attention span theater at bimbo's the other night. not only was i super-excited to be able to catch a kid koala show, but it was being sponsored by the same folks who toured my video around back in 2000.

i don't see what all this fuss with lord of the rings is about. i mean... it's really easy to find mordor. (link via steve)

of course! this is why i need a robot. how else am i going to solve my rubick's cube? (link via jory)

with the rubick's cube solved, it will give me a lot more spare time to play with my librarian action figure. how can i resist the amazing push button sushing action??

i know i've linked to this before, but i just noticed during kill bill that there was a wilhelm scream during the battle with the crazy 88's. i definitely heard one, but i think i may have also heard one of the other variants as well. it's funny, now that i know about the wilhelm scream, it totally stands out to me when i hear it during a film.

jory pointed out that monty (the comic formerly known as robotman) is now doing the tai chi thing too. wahoo! i'm going to be life of the party at the retirement community! who says i never plan ahead?

speaking of retirement homes, i just got back from bubba ho-tep, the latest bruce campbell wackiness. my friends thnk that i should do movie reviews on how much i was knitting during a movie (if i was too distracted by the movie to knit anything, then it means the movie was awesome. if was able to knit a little bit, then i found the movie to be pleasantly entertainting. if i was really involved with my knitting, then the movie wasn't all that great.) so anyway, i think bubba-ho-tep was a one scarf movie. a little slow at the beginning, but the battles with the scarab and the mummy were great!

i also got a chance to see kill bill on opening night! that was definitely a no-knit movie! with the rza doing the soundtrack and a bunch of chicks running around with swords, how could it possibly go wrong??

yes, it's been a knitting and movie viewing frenzy. i saw once upon a time in mexico the other day as well. my friends worked on it so i felt i should go an support their work. once again, johnny depp steals the entire picture. if he wasn't there, this movie would definitely be worth a sweater. but since he's so awesome, the movie gets upgraded to a small scarf. another compelling reason to see this movie is that it was shot entirely with digital cameras, which i still find pretty fascinating. the colors looked good, the blacks looked black and overall it looked quite nice.

note to self: when robbing the chinese hairdresser, check to make sure the martial arts expert/acupuncturist is not visiting for a bit of tea.

all i have to say is you must vote against the recall. please don't set a precedent like the one that may happen tomorrow, where rightfully elected officials are hijacked out of office because a millionaire can pay for a recall and an actor can con people into believing that he knows how to run a government. if arnold is elected, what's to stop people from calling for another recall six months down the line? and then a recall after that? these are truly frightening times we are facing, my friends. please vote no against the recall. vote no against proposition 54.

the latest cute asian cartoon character that i've been obsessing over (aside from kogepan) is pucca. her website describes her as "with sweet smile and round bread hairstyle. attracted by garu (a descendant of ninja). always tomboy girl, but her heart hopelessly devoted to garu." how cool is that?? what makes pucca different from the rest is that she's from korea and surprisingly super-violent. i didn't realize this bit about the violence until i started watching the flash animation. (link from jory)

variety reports that disney has greenlit a production of hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. personally, i'm really bothered by this. douglas adams had tried to get this movie greenlit for years and only now, after he's died are they going ahead with it. i suspect a lot of the british humor will be wiped out by american actors and overblown special effects.

ok, this seems totally unlikely, but it would be a damn funny show if it really happens. tom baker says that eddie izzard will be the next dr. who.

after reading this article about couples calling off their wedding plans (link via wayneco) and this other article about chasing down men by utilizing the rules of harvard business school, i am genuinely disturbed by contemporary mating rituals.

angela forwarded me this hilarious article involving 5th grader's visual interpretations of radiohead. isn't there a law against subjecting kids to depression via music?
