does anyone else around here find it unbearably funny that nostradomus' last words were "tomorrow, i shall no longer be here?" here are some more famous final words.

i love beautiful cars. i even love them when they're old and abandoned. walter lockwood has taken beautiful photos of ancient cars that have been left to die in the desert. (via gmtplus9)

another redesign. tell me if something doesn't work...

a man in kazakhstan is electrocuted while stealing power from his neighbors. friends and family are shocked when he staggers into his own funeral feast. (link via dunstan)

how could i possibly resist a website called angry little asian girl?!? (via robot wisdom)

in case i'd rather change my ethnicity, i can always consult the mobster name generator for a new moniker. it has dubbed me 'tony the sicilian brasi.' - so... don't mess wit me, 'k?

bugs. corpses. m. lee goff can tell you all about what bugs eat which part of the corpse at any particular moment of decay. it's sick, but it's interesting.

if you're planning on going climbing, it's probably best that you carry around a splat calculator. you know... just in case.

i know that this link has already made its rounds, but i was a little bit saddened to discover that there are no desirable toilets in my neighborhood. www.besttoilets.com can tell you the best places to go.

looking for that perfect cheesy jesus gift for your cheesy jesus friend? well, as we say in tagalog, "susmariosep!" look no more! check out www.cheesyjesus.com and may you be enlightened, brother. (via memepool)

someone at work has the ken and barbie star trek set and i couldn't believe my eyes. but it's on the internet, so it must be true.

speaking of work, the only reason why i went to the office christmas party was because there were rumors that penn and teller were going to perform. unfortunately, the rumors were false. fortunately, we got a stellar performance by this incredible troupe called anti-gravity - every single member of the troupe was a replicant (i don't think they would have passed the voigt-kampf test). anyway, here's a funny journal entry written by penn gillette about their san francisco performance. it's funny because it's true.

there's a coffee shop near my house that i go to because they have really good chai and i have to wake up at 6:30 every morning. all their poppy seed pastries have been renamed "dot com" muffin/scone/whatever and it freaks me out every time, but i'm hopelessly addicted to their chai. anyway, tomorrow when i go to the coffee shop, i'll read this and smile.

this is kind of a pain in the ass to play, but i like the idea of having a 3d tetris game on the web.

and if you're still not tired of playing with blocks all day, you can buy legos at the unofficial lego online shopping mall! bwahahahahaha! (via /usr/bin/girl)

it was 20 years ago today... i remember the day john lennon died. i can't believe it's been so long now. julian lennon talks about how he feels about dad. (thanks to gizi for the link)

a happier milestone to commemorate is terry gross' twenty-fifth anniversary of hosting one of public radio's finest shows, 'fresh air.'

more mad cow disease. salon tracks the creutzfeldt-jakob panic exploding throughout europe.

damnit, they've been making me work at work. i'm sorry but links are light today. i hope you'll be entertained by the lsd manufactured in a nuclear silo.

i love the blf. it was one of the only pleasures i would have when i drove home from work along highway 101 through redwood city. the san francisco chronicle has a great write-up about some of the wittiest terrorists around.

for something that is supposed to be absolutely unavailable, i know way too many people who have seen the star wars holiday christmas special. my favorite part was when jefferson airplane members shoot lasers from their guitars. now that's what special effects are all about!

film threat reviews crouching tiger, hidden dragon. it opens this week in new york and los angeles. go see it.

and my favorite interviewer of all time, terry gross, interviews ang lee and michelle yeoh! (kudos to whyy's new site design - much easier to navigate than before)

i remember being in the philippines when benigno aquino was shot in the head on the tarmac of the manila airport. i remember the start of the revolution. now there's a new revolution and the people are rising to arms via cell phone. (via robot wisdom)

i don't know what's more disturbing - the fact that this person has decided to make his own personal rocket to launch in summer of 2001, or the fact that he only refers to himself in third person as "rocket guy" (via gmtplus9)

i have yet to actually go to the amihotornot site - but i had a great time checking out amigeekornot!

i'm too embarrassed to tell you about the extensive simpsons database i've created. it would shamefully prove to you what a complete nerd i am. instead, i'm going to distract you by pointing you to the 50 greatest moments in simpsons history. i have to admit that i disagree with it somewhat, especially considering that no drug scenes made the list (i would have chosen lisa at the dentist... but that's just me...)

and after you're done with that list, i can also distract you with the 20 steps on how to hide the fact that you're mr. t from your co-workers. (via popculturejunkmail)

there used to be this really cool canadian whiskey billboard off highway 101 here in san francisco. it's been here forever and was this gigantic neon beauty. i don't even drink canadian whiskey, but i loved how it looked in the skyline. anyway, i only mention this because as of recently, it's not there anymore.

sick of losing your email address when your dot com employer goes out of business? fret no more! just get an email address at ijustgotfired.com!

first it was angry monkeys, then robot monkeys, now it's stoned monkeys. salon disputes the latest results indicating that marijuana is addictive. not very scientific, but pretty funny.

tapioca tea, on the other hand, is totally addictive. i started drinking it a few years ago, but it's apparently more popular than i thought.
