i made a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies yesterday. while searching around for the perfect recipe, i stumbled upon chocolate chip cookies for chemists.

alter ego is kind of like a mix between an old infocom game, the sims and you. it's a decent time killer for work, i suppose. (link via metafilter)

ok. star wars asciimation just goes to prove that someone has a hell of a lot of time on their hands.

i think i've always had more of an affinity for the word 'nerd' rather than 'geek.' i didn't realize that the etymology of nerd is possibly based on a doctor seuss verse. (link via memepool)

i really hate being sick at home all day. personally, i usually prefer to go to work when i'm not feeling well, but then my co-workers hate me over the course of the next week as they catch whatever germs i've spread.

coincidencedesign.com would be funnier/more interesting if i didn't already have a weird, scary stalker situation going on at the moment... (link via english adam)

eric harshbarger is totally, totally nuts, but i have to admit that i find it kind of endearing. check out all the lego statues that he builds for a living and try to tell me that it's not some of the most incredibly cool stuff that you've ever seen. i won't believe you. (link via wiese)

the top ten signs that your son is a computer hacker is disturbing in a paranoid, bible-thumping, white trash sort of way. to add to the disturbing aspect is the argument near the bottom of the article that girl hackers aren't really hackers at all, instead they're considered 'scene whores.' i'm speechless. alternately, if you're in paris, you can sign up with zi hackacademy and learn how to be a white hat. wait... how do i say white hat in french? (link via robotwisdom)

the library of congress has an eames exhibit that looks terrific. it's unfortunate that the tour never came through san francisco. i don't quite understand why that is the case, since san francisco folks would attend in a frenzy. (link via gmtplus9)

project grizzly is probably one of the funniest documentaries i've watched in years. what's even funnier is that troy hurtubise is still at it.

hyperphysics is a good site for hypernerds. it is based, of course, on hypercard. as an added bonus to all this great information, the navigation is pretty interesting as well.

if there's one thing i've learned today, it's that registering for a yahoo group sucks. that is all. please return to your normal everyday chaos.

see the trailer for the movie that i'm currently working on. minority report is one of the few movies where i'm really excited about the script. it'll be fun. i promise.

need information on a parking garage in san francisco? parkingquest just goes to prove that yes, virginia, there is a website for everything.

my friends and i saw the final day of 2001: a space odessey in glorious 70mm cinerama technicolor playing at the castro theater in san francisco. stanley kubrick, arthur c. clark and douglas trumbull. what more could i possibly ask for??

nerd facts about 2001's original projection format.

the ibm 7094 computer at bell labs sings 'a bicycle built for two' ('daisy'), circa 1961. would you like for me to sing a song?

i always seem to forget to announce our shows. i swore to myself that i would remember to do it this time around, so here it goes: come watch our band, the shimmer kids underpop association, play at edinburgh castle in san francisco, this friday, december 7th! it'll be exciting and fun entertainment, especially if you buy the theremin player a drink.

a woman from tokyo is found dead after apparently trying to find the buried treasure from 'fargo.' although it's sad, it's somehow fitting. (link via jory)

damn excite@home. do you hear me? damn them!

i must admit that i always thought that anthonydaniels.com was a funny concept, but now that i've encountered williamshatner.com, i'm just utterly fascinated.

maybe i'm a sucker because this is near my neighborhood, but 16th and mission is a very cool experiment in web art. (link via ben)

my pal rusty runs somafm and i've always enjoyed the music it churns out. check it out, have it in the background, it won't bite.
